Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about IDPicly, passport photos, requirements, and more.

Getting Started

How does IDPicly work?
Upload a photo from your phone or computer. We center your face, adjust to exact government specifications, and can fix the background if needed. Preview the result, then download digital + print files for $3.99.
What equipment do I need?
Just a smartphone with a camera. Have someone take your photo against a plain white wall for best results. We can remove busy backgrounds too, but a plain wall always looks cleanest. Natural daylight works great.
Which countries do you support?
35+ countries including US, UK, Canada, India, EU/Schengen, Australia, China, Japan, and more. Select your country when you upload and we format to the exact required specifications.
Can I preview before paying?
Yes! You see the fully processed photo with background removed and proper sizing before any payment. Adjust as many times as needed. Pay only when you're satisfied.

Pricing & Payment

What do I get for $3.99?
Two digital files: (1) A single high-resolution photo for online applications (DS-160, passport portals, etc.), (2) A print sheet with 6-8 photos on 4x6, A4, or Letter paper for physical submission.
Why is it cheaper than CVS/Walgreens?
Store photos require staff, equipment, and retail overhead. IDPicly is fully automated with our own AI — no staff, no physical equipment, no retail costs. We pass savings to you.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. $3.99 is the total. No subscription, no upsells, no tips required. Printing at a store costs extra ($0.15-0.40) but that's not paid to us.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover) via Stripe. Apple Pay and Google Pay also accepted on supported devices.

Photo Requirements

Will my photo be accepted?
Our AI follows official government specifications for size, head position, background, and lighting. We support 35+ countries with exact compliance. 100% acceptance guarantee or money back.
Can't I just crop a photo myself?
You can try, but government specs are precise: exact head-to-frame ratios (70-80%), specific eye-line positioning, uniform backgrounds, and dimensions that vary by country. Passport offices reject about 1 in 5 DIY photos for technical issues — meaning a wasted trip and new photos. For less than a Starbucks coffee, our AI validates against official ICAO biometric standards automatically.
What size is a US passport photo?
2x2 inches (51x51mm), 600x600 pixels minimum for digital. White or off-white background. Head height 1-1.375 inches (25-35mm). No glasses allowed since 2016. IDPicly formats this automatically.
Can I wear glasses in my photo?
US has banned glasses since 2016. Most countries (UK, Canada, EU) also prohibit eyewear. Only medical necessity with documentation may be exempt in some countries.
How recent does my photo need to be?
Most countries require within 6 months. Some (like India visa applications) may require 3 months. The photo should accurately represent your current appearance.
What background color should I use?
Plain white works for most countries (US, Canada, India, EU, Australia, Vietnam). Red background is required for Indonesia. Royal blue is required for Philippines. UK prefers light grey. For the cleanest results, take your photo against the correct colored wall — automatic removal works well but a proper backdrop always looks best.
Is background removal always necessary?
Not always. If you already have the correct background color, your original photo will look the most natural. We recommend automatic removal only when your backdrop is busy, the wrong color, or uneven. Complex backgrounds or fine hair details may show minor edge artifacts.
Why isn't the background removal perfect?
Our model is optimized for the best balance of quality, speed, and cost. While premium models exist that offer marginally better edge detection (~5% improvement), they cost 3× more to run. To keep our service affordable at $3.99, we use models that deliver excellent results for the vast majority of photos. For best results, take your photo against a plain, solid-colored background.

Printing & Downloads

How do I print my photos?
Download the print sheet file and take it to any photo printer: Walmart (~$0.15), CVS/Walgreens (~$0.39), or print at home. Select 4x6 inch, no borders, glossy paper.
What file formats do I receive?
High-resolution JPEG files. The digital photo is formatted for online applications. The print sheet is optimized for 4x6, A4, or Letter paper printing at 300 DPI.
Can I download multiple times?
Yes, after payment you can re-download your files. Keep the download page open or bookmark it. For best results, save the files to your device immediately after download.
Do you ship printed photos?
No, we provide digital files only. You print them locally. This keeps costs low and delivery instant — no waiting for mail.

Privacy & Security

Is my photo stored or shared?
Never stored, never shared. We use our own proprietary ML models — your photos are never sent to OpenAI, Google, or any third-party service. Photos are processed in our server memory only, never saved to disk, and immediately discarded after processing. No human ever sees your photos.
Is the payment secure?
Yes. Payments are processed through Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. We never see or store your card details. Stripe handles all payment security.
Do you sell my data?
Absolutely not. We don't collect personal data beyond what's needed for payment. No tracking, no profiling, no data sales. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Where is IDPicly based?
USA. Our servers run on AWS (Amazon Web Services). The company is NiviAI Ops LLC, registered in Florida. We're not affiliated with any government agency.

Guarantees & Support

What if my photo gets rejected?
100% money-back guarantee. If rejected for a technical reason related to our processing, email us within 30 days with the rejection notice. Full refund, no questions asked.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Digital products are generally non-refundable once downloaded. However, if you're unsatisfied for any reason, contact us and we'll work with you.
How do I contact support?
Email support@idpicly.com. We typically respond within 24 hours. Include your payment confirmation for faster service.
Do you have a phone number?
Email only. This keeps costs low so we can offer $3.99 pricing. Email support is usually faster than phone for digital products.
